Bake Time: ~30 min
The only thing you need to know about this flaky pastry treat is that it gloriously combines ham and cheese together with a spread of dijon mustard. Best served warm, it's a fun, faster, and cheaper alternative than attempting to make them in croissant form.
Ingredients
1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed overnight in refrigerator
¼ cup dijon mustard
8 oz. cooked ham, thinly sliced
4 oz. Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
1 egg, for wash
Instructions
Roll out 2 puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Make sure they are the same size.
Transfer the puff pastry to parchment paper lined baking sheets.
Spread the mustard evenly over the bottom sheet of pastry, leaving a ½" border.
Layer sliced ham, and cheese over the mustard spread.
Brush the edges lightly with the egg wash and place the other sheet on top. Use a fork to seal the edges.
Chill uncovered in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400°.
Add the egg wash: 1 egg, a splash of water, mixed well and brushed on.
Cut thin slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape.
Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the pasta is golden brown.
Let cool for 15 minutes before cutting.
Serve warm and enjoy!
