Serves: 3

Prep Time: 15 min + 2 hours resting

Cook Time: ~15 min

We're obsessed with everything matcha, including this crusted bun. This is a perfect recipe for a lazy Sunday. The buns are soft, warm, but with a nice layer of crunch that's not too sweet.

Ingredients

Bun

1 cup flour

¼ cup milk

1 ⅔ tbs sugar

1 egg

¾ tsp yeast

¼ tsp salt

1 tbs butter

Frosting

1 tbs butter

2 tbs sugar

1 egg

⅓ cup flour

2 tsp matcha powder

Instruction

  1. Mix together the flour, yeast, and salt. Then add the milk, sugar and egg. Knead for 5 minutes. Add in butter, and knead again.

  2. Leave to rise for 1 hour.

  3. Divide into 3 parts, and let rise for another hour.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the frosting: butter, sugar and 1 egg. Mix.

  5. Then add flour and matcha powder. Pipe the batter into a swirl on top of the buns.

  6. Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes. Enjoy!
