Serves: 6

Prep Time: 30-40 min

Nothing says Fall like mashed yams, but just remember that they don’t have to be just for Thanksgiving dinner.

Ingredients

6 large garnet yams

¾ cup milk

½ cup butter

¾ cup maple syrup (optional)

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450.

  2. Rinse, scrub, and stab your yams with a fork to create holes for steam to let out.

  3. Place them on a lined baking sheet and let cook in the oven until liquid starts to seep out and starts to brown. Turn the yams over at the 25 minute mark.

  4. In a large mixing bowl or a standing electric mixer on low, stir the potatoes. Then slowly add in the milk, about ½ cup or so at a time. You may not end up needing all of it but go by the texture to determine how much you use. Next, add in the butter and maple syrup to taste (optional). Taste test your yams as you may want to add a pinch of salt.

  5. Serve warm and sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon for extra flair, enjoy!
