Cook Time: 30 min

Loco Moco is a Hawaiian staple that is typically a fried egg on a hamburger, drenched with gravy and served on rice.

Ingredients

Egg, fried

Green onions, for garnish

Rice, for assembly

Patties:

1 ½ lb ground beef

1 tbp Worcestershire

1 ½ tsp salt

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp pepper

Gravy:

1 ½ cup beef stock

4 tsp soy sauce

1 tsp Worcestershire

2 tsp ketchup

5 tsp cornstarch

Instruction

Patties

  1. Mix the beef, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Using your hands, form patties by rolling meat into a ball and smashing it flat.

  3. Heat a large pan over medium heat and fry each side for about 3-4 minutes or until it’s cooked to your preference. Finish cooking the patties and let rest on a paper towel lined sheet.

Gravy

  1. Mix together the stock, soy sauce, Worcestershire, ketchup, and cornstarch in a separate bowl.

  2. In the same pan you cooked the patties in, melt the butter and add in the gravy ingredients. You should see the gravy start to thicken up as it’s mixed well. Remove from heat and keep warm.

Assembly

  1. Over a medium bowl of rice, add your hamburger patty and pour gravy all over. Top with a fried egg and garnish with sliced green onion. Enjoy!
